Holy, Holy, Holy
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lJBxK0IQ6XE

I just love this song...

I think the words are just so powerful...

1. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

2. Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

3. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.

4. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

I'm not speaking to ANYBODY! spank.gif

I don't want to be a girl!

I'm going to listen to music...It makes more sense.

Wild avatar...

clap.gif

You can do as you please Mickey Dees... biggrin.gif

No parents on this site... laugh.gif

No parents on THIS thread, but there are ninnies and bullies everywhere.

This avatar makes me dizzy. I would post my Battlestar Galactica avatar but someone would get all bent out of shape about that too.

I've got an avatar in Arabic that says "Make sex not terror"...Someone would sure have a coronary over that one too, but I might get a bee in my bonnet and post it anyway.

What's up with the homage to cats taz? Good selections but, did you get a cat?

Oh, and which of the Kronos Quartet songs do you like?

I'm counting the hours til Battlestar Galactica! someone came up with the greatest fan music for the show, with all of the clues that no one can figure out....I'm going to lay off the Abney Park, which I can't get enough of, and listen to some of these cuts from the BSG show. I'll probably wake up in the middle of the night with an epiphany...I know, I know, I know, the final Cylon is???? Then, by morning I will have changed my mind about it again. And to think, that I once made fun of all the people who were obsessed with "who shot JR."...Now I understand. doh.gif

If you don't know what's going on, here's the coolest "catch the frak up" video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grfI3Yv6T0Q

Here is a link to a great fan mix of music! It's a zipped file.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/k3j2cg

The songs:
1. Godspeed You Black Emperor - " '. . .Nothing's Alright In Our Life. . .'/The Dead Flag Blues (Reprise)/The Sad Mafioso. . ."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aLjup934Rk

"It has begun."
-number 6, miniseries

instrumental

2. Richard Gibbs - "Starbuck's Recon" (composed for Battlestar Galactica: the Miniseries)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njgPBNrmv6Y

3. Edward James Olmos - "You can't hide from the things that you've done"

4. Radiohead - "Backdrifts"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM1gxEF224U

". . .I can't stop thinking about the Olympic Carrier."
"That was three days ago. It's ancient history under these circumstances. Leave the second-guessing to the historians."
-apollo and adama, "water"

We're rotten fruit
We're damaged goods
What the hell, we've got nothing more to lose
One gust and we will probably crumble
We're backdrifters

This far but no further
I'm hanging off a branch
I'm teetering on the brink
I'm backsliding

You fell into our arms
We tried but there was nothing we could do
Nothing we could do

5. Hybrid - "Dreaming Your Dreams"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTDASJKKcFU

"She. . .Caprica Six, she chose me. Chose me over all men, chosen to be seduced. Taken by the hand, guided between the light and the dark. But is she an angel or is she a demon? Is she imaginary or is she real? Is she my own voice or is she the voice of. . .?"
-baltar, "taking a break from all your worries"

Cause where you're going

I'll follow you, follow you

And what you're feeling

I'll feel for you, feel for you

And what you're hearing

I'm singing for you

And when you're sleeping

I'm dreaming your dreams

for you. . .

6. Bob Dylan - "When the Ship Comes In"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrk25hHEb4A

"It won't be an easy journey. It will be long and arduous. But I promise you one thing. On the memory of those lying here before you, we shall find it. And Earth will become our new home. So say we all!"
-adama, miniseries

Oh the time will come up
When the winds will stop
And the breeze will cease to be breathin'.
Like the stillness in the wind
Before the hurricane begins,
The hour that the ship comes in.

7. Thom Yorke (from Radiohead) - "Harrowdown Hill"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjq0GWw-D2U

"I have seen things. . .The things you have done. Things you felt you had to do. All leading to this moment. Do you wish to be forgiven, my child?"
. . ."Yes."
-the hybrid and shaw, razor

I can't take their pressure
No one cares if you live or die
They just want me gone
They want me gone

(It was me lured into the back of Harrowdown Hill
I was lured into the back of Harrowdown Hill
It was a slippery slippery slippery slope
It was a slippery slippery slippery slope. . .)

8. The Sugarcubes - "Traitor" clap.gif
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnyBtIdI05w
"You're telling me that Gaeta saw this list and didn't do a damned thing about it?"
"We have no idea of knowing what Gaeta did or did not do when he saw the list."
"My gods, the whole thing's like a bad dream, only we woke up and the traitors are all still here. . .Guilty."
-starbuck and chief, "collaborators"

My punctuality is well known
When the revolution takes place
I'll be late
And I'll be shot as a traitor

When the sun rises
I will not see
I regret nothing
It was worth it

9. Jamie Bamber - "That's justice"

10. Jeff Buckley - "Eternal Life" clap.gif Hey Graham... Is he in the Hall?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_RQDpPcsjE
"Genocide, murder, vengeance, they're all sins in the eyes of God. That's what you and I know."
"That's what they don't wanna hear. Because then they'd have to rethink what they're doing. They'd have to consider that maybe the slaughter of mankind was a mistake."
-caprica six and boomer, "downloaded"

There's no time for hatred, only questions
Where is love, where is happiness, what is Life,
where is peace?

When will I find the strength to bring me release?
And tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said?
Man, It sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And I've got a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye
to life eternal, angel...

11. Nine Inch Nails - "The Becoming" clap.gif But of Course! clap.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkeZ0IICfBA

"How many of us ended up with the people we really wanted to be with?. . .Because the ones we really wanted, that really loved, were dead, dying. . .turned out to be cylons and they didn't know it."
-chief, "escape velocity"

all
pain disappears,
it's the nature of
of my circuitry,
drowns
out all I hear,
no escape from this,
my new consciousness.

the me that you know,
he used to have feelings,
but the blood has stopped pumping,
and he is left to decay,
the me that you know,
is now made up of wires,
and even when I'm right with you,
I'm so far away.

12. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - "All Along the Watchtower" clap.gif Absolutely Awesome! clap.gif
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCwCBh0z3Hs

"I hear it everywhere. I mean. . .But I can't really hear it. Do you know what I mean?"
"Yeah. It's like you can grab just a part of the melody, and then it goes away. Like it's something from. . ."
"Childhood."
-anders and chief, "crossroads pt. one"

"No reason to get excited"
The thief he kindly spoke.
"There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke.
But ah, you and I we've been through that.
And this is not our fate.
So let us not talk falsely now,
The hour's getting late.

13. Bear McCreary - "Someone To Trust" (composed for season three: "Taking A Break From All Your Worries") ( thumbsup.gif Really Beautiful!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-BrIRzNBwQ

14. Bright Eyes - "No One Would Riot For Less" (NICE)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqeK_dnPDHQ

"Let's just be glad that we both came back alive, all right?"
"That's just it, Kara. I didn't want to make it back alive."
-starbuck and apollo, "resurrection ship pt. two"

Little soldier, little insect, you know war... it has no heart.
It will kill you in the sunshine, or happily in the the dark.
Where kindness is a card game and a bent up cigarette,
In the trenches, in the hard rain, with a bullet and a bet.

He says help me out, yeah, hell is coming
Could you do it now? hell is here

15. Campbell Lane - "The prophecy"

16. Beck - "The Information"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyyd80y9EFI

The information is laughing at us
The ticker tape feeds the night
Looking for a lost transmission
A heaven that we left behind

Say hello to a mannequin
The ghost of an automaton
The witching hour is summoning up
Armies where they don't belong

She's the sister of avarice
The wife of a poisonous tide
She's the eye of a battle of storms
That sees where the atoms collide

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
Highrise eyes see through you

Well, I guess if you're not a fan, you won't get the whole thing, but hey....The music is still good!
tazvil04
heart - now that is a post...

Several reasons...

Cats...cats rule the world...

We discussed that on another thread...did you know Lincoln when they moved to their summer quarters in DC returned to the White House to get his child's cat because the child refused to be without it -- the POTUS returning to the White House for a pussycat...I love it!

Also, my cat -- a black female cat named Budweiser who I have used in short stories ...is deceased over a year now and greatly missed...

So its an homage to her -- and also the fact that cats do figure in many songs.... cool.gif
tazvil04
The avatar -- brilliant -- I love the alternative avatars as well.

Me I am stuck with the eagle -- not so much stuck as so proud that this magnificent being is our national bird...

Used to have an eagle calendar - they are awesome...

Battlestar Galactica, eh?

I watched the first one and loved it -- but haven't gotten into the new one yet. My wife is not a sci-fi person like me so we really stay away from sci fi...except for ghosts...we love ghosts and ghost stories and visiting haunted places...

I'll see if the previous season is on demand and see if it captures my interest like it has yours... smile.gif

tazvil04
And finally -- some wild music...radiohead is great...

And I have always likeed the sugarcubes -- how could one not with their lead singer... cool.gif

the words of Paul Simon (and Art's contribution to Mrs. Robinson) live on forever, timeless, applied to any situation.

And the arrangements were superb, however, the music can be adapted to any arrangement and still the lyrics work.

Simon does Bridge solo on guitar and the meaning comes out. Aretha or a gospel singer can do Bridge that way and the meaning comes out.
Though Art is the legend version.

Mrs. Robinson...

That is a great song...great movie...

Did you see the Graduate on Broadway with Kathleen Turner, Jason Biggs, and Alicia Silverstone?

I thought it translated well to the stage.

Cats are cool! I've had several, and even presidents aren't immune to their charms. Ask rla, he didn't think he would like a cat, named "Miss Lily" (is that cute or what?), but he loves her dearly. Why "Budweiser"?

Yeah, she was a good lead singer for the sugarcubes! I like them too, and Radiohead. I like most of the songs above, and some great compositions that were made just for the show too.

Are you going to give me your favorite Kronos Quartet selections?

You're stuck on an avatar huh? Well, it's a good choice.

As for BSG...the first one in the 80's I think? That was pretty lame. This is exceptional! It's got that grainy, realistic thing about it...Like the industrial music. That's one of the things you can see in the selection of music that is listed in my last post reflects...A lot of very good music.

I wouldn't recommend it though, because it's addicting! I swear it drives me nuts! If I think I'm not going to make it home in time, or something interferes, I have a fit. diablo.gif Therefore, it must be evil...That's logic right. idea.gif

Well, Heart encouraged me to post these couple links from my chess blog.

For those who don't play chess , or don't know what it is like to be pationate about something you enjoy, this will give you a flavor of my level of enthusiasm for a game that has been around for about a 2000 years.

This link is titled Prequil to Philly. It was my road trip to a HUGE chess tournament last summer in Philly. I drove down with my son and daughter. Later my wife joined us. It was a good time. I put a collage of pictures panning to The Decemberists " Sons and Daughters" song.

http://blunderprone.blogspot.com/2008/07/b...-to-philly.html

For those who want a taste of the action at a big geeky tournament. This is video format of sights and excitement of the event. I set these pictures in motion to none other than Cake's " Sheep go to Heaven" song. It's fast paced ( as chess goes) .

http://blunderprone.blogspot.com/2008/07/last-day.html

Myself and a few others are passionate about turning the image around that Chess is for boring egg heads. Now that Bush is gone, I feel its OK to be smart again smile.gif

And thanks Heart... really.

Yep! Quite nice aren't they?

Mansell scored several movies with Requiem right?

Anyway, for something really freaking weird, stare at my avatar while watching Requiem....Tell me if you get dizzy or what?

They are great!

Is chess geeky? I thought that it was geeky....then for awhile, it was really cool because it was geeky...! If it ever went back to being geeky, I didn't hear about it. But then, I'm in Georgia, so....We never get to find out what's cool until the rest of the country has already been informed.

If you ask me, geeks will always win in the long run.

I really like the music too.

Thanks!

One More Arrow-Elton John
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbO5W7Z_dfA

He said I want to grow up
And look like Robert Mitchum
And I hope that when I'm gone
There'll be some say that I miss him
He must have been romantic
He must have sensed adventure
And I feel the steel of his strong will
In the frame around his picture

And he's one more arrow flying through the air
One more arrow landing in a shady spot somewhere
Where the days and nights blend into one
And he can always feel the sun
Through the soft brown earth that holds him
Forever always young

He could have been a boxer
But the fight game seemed so dirty
We argued once he knocked me down
And he cried when he thought he'd hurt me
Strictly from the old school
He was quiet about his pain
And if one in ten could be that brave
I would never hate again

One more arrow
One more arrow
One more arrow
Forever always young

Lyrics by Tom Robinson

You've a certain sartorial eloquence
And a style that's almost of your own
You've got the knack of being so laid-back
It's like talking to the great Unknown
You've got a self-sufficient swept-back hairdo
Pretty certain that you've got it made
Oh your life-style shows in the clothes you chose
Sitting pretty in the masquerade

Sing it
Don't you wanna play this game no more
Don't you wanna play no more
Don't you wanna play this game no more
Don't you wanna play no more

You remain the only main contender
Though you never, you never meant to lose at all
Down at the mouth yet unsurrounded
Adamant before the fall
Though when you go you know I might be lonesome
But I'll keep it under close control
Go and get your kicks and babe let's call it quits
I believe I'm feeling indisposed

Don't you wanna play this game no more
When you go you know I might be lonesome
But I'll keep it under close control
Go and get your kicks and babe let's call it quits
I believe I'm feeling indisposed

Elton and Tom Robinson wrote Sartorial Eloquence

Tom Robinson is a great singer/songwriter who wrote the immortal political song
Sing if you're glad to be gay ...and Tom puts on one of the greatest concerts I ever saw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHG2LJGfEdw

The British Police are the best in the world
I don't believe one of these stories I've heard
'Bout them raiding our pubs for no reason at all
Lining the customers up by the wall
Picking out people and knocking them down
Resisting arrest as they're kicked on the ground
Searching their houses and calling them queer
I don't believe that sort of thing happens here

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

Pictures of naked young women are fun
In Titbits and Playboy, page three of The Sun
There's no nudes in Gay News our last magazine
But they still find excuses to call it obscene
Read how disgusting we are in the press
The News of The World and the Sunday Express
Molesters of children, corruptors of youth
It's there in the paper, it must be the truth

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

Don't try to kid us that if you're discreet
You're perfectly safe as you walk down the street
You don't have to mince or make bitchy remarks
To get beaten unconscious and left in the dark
I had a friend who was gentle and short
Got lonely one evening and went for a walk
Queerbashers caught him and kicked in his teeth
He was only hospitalised for a week

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

So sit back and watch as they close all our clubs
Arrest us for meeting and raid all our pubs
Make sure your boyfriend's at least 21
So only your friends and your brothers get done
Lie to your workmates, lie to your folks
Put down the queens and tell anti-queer jokes
Gay Lib's ridiculous, join their laughter
'The buggers are legal now, what more are they after?'

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

And a style that's almost of your own
You've got the knack of being so laid-back
It's like talking to the great Unknown
You've got a self-sufficient swept-back hairdo
Pretty certain that you've got it made
Oh your life-style shows in the clothes you chose
Sitting pretty in the masquerade

Sing it
Don't you wanna play this game no more
Don't you wanna play no more
Don't you wanna play this game no more
Don't you wanna play no more

You remain the only main contender
Though you never, you never meant to lose at all
Down at the mouth yet unsurrounded
Adamant before the fall
Though when you go you know I might be lonesome
But I'll keep it under close control
Go and get your kicks and babe let's call it quits
I believe I'm feeling indisposed

Don't you wanna play this game no more
When you go you know I might be lonesome
But I'll keep it under close control
Go and get your kicks and babe let's call it quits
I believe I'm feeling indisposed

Tom Robinson is a great singer/songwriter who wrote the immortal political song
Sing if you're glad to be gay ...and Tom puts on one of the greatest concerts I ever saw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHG2LJGfEdw

The British Police are the best in the world
I don't believe one of these stories I've heard
'Bout them raiding our pubs for no reason at all
Lining the customers up by the wall
Picking out people and knocking them down
Resisting arrest as they're kicked on the ground
Searching their houses and calling them queer
I don't believe that sort of thing happens here

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

Pictures of naked young women are fun
In Titbits and Playboy, page three of The Sun
There's no nudes in Gay News our last magazine
But they still find excuses to call it obscene
Read how disgusting we are in the press
The News of The World and the Sunday Express
Molesters of children, corruptors of youth
It's there in the paper, it must be the truth

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

Don't try to kid us that if you're discreet
You're perfectly safe as you walk down the street
You don't have to mince or make bitchy remarks
To get beaten unconscious and left in the dark
I had a friend who was gentle and short
Got lonely one evening and went for a walk
Queerbashers caught him and kicked in his teeth
He was only hospitalised for a week

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

So sit back and watch as they close all our clubs
Arrest us for meeting and raid all our pubs
Make sure your boyfriend's at least 21
So only your friends and your brothers get done
Lie to your workmates, lie to your folks
Put down the queens and tell anti-queer jokes
Gay Lib's ridiculous, join their laughter
'The buggers are legal now, what more are they after?'

Sing if you're glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way

December 1, 1955, our freedom movement came alive. And because of Sister Rosa you know, we don't ride on the back of the bus no more.

Sister Rosa Parks was tired one day
after a hard day on her job.
When all she wanted was a well deserved rest
Not a scene from an angry mob.
A bus driver said, "Lady, you got to get up
cuz a white person wants that seat."
But Miss Rosa said, "No, not no more.
I'm gonna sit here and rest my feet."

CHORUS
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.
Thank you Miss Rosa you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.

Now, the police came without fail
And took Sister Rosa off to jail.
And 14 dollars was her fine,
Brother Martin Luther King
knew it was our time.
The people of Montgomery sit down to talk
It was decided all gods' children should walk
Until segregation was brought to its knees
And we obtain freedom and equality, yeah

CHORUS
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.
We'll sing it again
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.

So we dedicate this song to thee
for being the symbol of our dignity.
Thank Sister Rosa Parks.

CHORUS
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.
We'll sing it again
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.

CHORUS
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,
You started our freedom movement
Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.
We'll sing it again
Thank you Miss Rosa, you are the spark,

Thank you Sister Rosa Parks.

One More Arrow-Elton John
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbO5W7Z_dfA

He said I want to grow up
And look like Robert Mitchum
And I hope that when I'm gone
There'll be some say that I miss him
He must have been romantic
He must have sensed adventure
And I feel the steel of his strong will
In the frame around his picture

And he's one more arrow flying through the air
One more arrow landing in a shady spot somewhere
Where the days and nights blend into one
And he can always feel the sun
Through the soft brown earth that holds him
Forever always young

He could have been a boxer
But the fight game seemed so dirty
We argued once he knocked me down
And he cried when he thought he'd hurt me
Strictly from the old school
He was quiet about his pain
And if one in ten could be that brave
I would never hate again

One more arrow
One more arrow
One more arrow
Forever always young

Yes it does make sense. Both have the same funky guitar and bass. David Byrne was another one of those tortured genius musicians.

But, "Take Me To The River" was written by one of the best songwriters of all time....Al Green! I think we lost him this past year. Beautiful lyrics, as usual. The Talking Heads song is the one I always think of though.

Al Green is alive and well and living and performing weekly.

She could mean in the sense that just about every great artist as a tortured soul that gives them the creative energy to be musical geniuses...

One cannot see the soul itself -- but one imagines its being tortured in order to come up with such beautiful music -- since the music itself is so other worldly...

That is what I understood her to mean...

Hi Graham,

If anyone feels they need an apology from me, on this thread, that most don't read anyway, then they have it. But, G...this is a relaxing thread for me....You're the one with the musical knowledge, I'm just a learner and listener, so I guess I always think that I can rely on you to correct me when I'm wrong about something like that.

I finally figured out what happens though....I think it's because I notate their names or tributes to them and somewhere in the back of my mind I file it under the same place I file those that passed on. Sorry about that, but at least I do note it, which not many do....And, I'll try to reformat my brain hard-drive and see if I can't find another file for it.

In 2007, there was a great tribute to Leonard Cohen on PBS. In 2008, Al Green received a lifetime acheivement award and it was on BET. Since I rarely "watch" television, instead I mostly listen to it as I"m doing other things, it must have registered as "memorial" rather than "tribute" and such. Oops, misfiled. dancing.gif

Once, in one day, two things were driving me nuts that I couldn't remember, and this was when there was no quick way to look this stuff up.

I was at university and there was a band playing in the quad, and they were quite good. They were playing music from the album "Superfly". I couldn't remember who did the original

About an hour later, I had been in a discussion about who ran for president in 1988, and there was one I couldn't remember.

I guess the two questions just went on some back-burner in my mind for the rest of the day, resurfacing every few hours, but no answers came to mind.

Late that night, out of the blue, the two answers came to my mind and I told my ex "It's Curtis Mayfield"! and the person who ran for president "It was Pete Dupont"!

Here's the odd part....I can no longer remember Curtis Mayfield's name without also remembering Pete Dupont's name.

I guess I must have stored them in the same file, and I'm sure neither would want to be in the same file, but that's what happened.

As for David Byrne, I do believe he's one of the most talented people in the creative arts living!....But, I do remember an interview on the radio where some of those who had worked with him said he was impossible to get along with, and that it was very sad, because he really is such a genius. I hope that's not true, but it does seem to be the case with most really genius level people in music.

Anyway, this is relaxation here in this thread, and I learn a lot from both of you and those who visit....So, I really don't want to say ANYTHING bad about anyone here...That was my rule, and I should have stuck to it. If I mess that up....correct me ok?

luv,

I like that song so much better sung in a different language, because then you can really appreciate the feel of it, without the heart break of the lyrics.

Music by Elton John

I don't know if it's possible to have a favorite Elton John song, but these would be in my top ten.

Elton John
Madman across the water -- I suspect this is what is considered a great arrangement? Lots of bass guitar sound?

why would anyone think you are crazy by liking Jeff Beck, who has been around 50 years almost, better than SRV, who was around a very short period of
time before dying right before his popularity would take off?

Beck was legend before Vaughn was born.

Probably because it seems everyone wants to play guitar like SRV....If I talk to anyone about guitar they bring up his name.

No one ever says they want to play like Jeff Beck....So, it makes me stop and wonder what I'm missing about SRV.

david Byrne is a musical genius -- and the tom tom club was an incredible part of it...though Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth's contributions cannot be underestimated...

over the years I always liked George, but more and more, I learned to realize George was the Beatles, their signature sound, was his.
Always a Lennon fan of his solo records. Also George was a big part of the "soul" of the Beatles
Without George, there was no Beatles

Am not a big Wings fan, not a very big McCartney solo fan (always feel his "Silly love songs" was one of the few songs he wrote post Beatles that
actually let the world know his message, ironically enough...

McC always seemed to have a chip on his billion dollar income shoulders- that he was offended John became immortal and left him here to age and make
a fool of himself (just my opinion).

Though I loved Uncle Albert and some of the other multi-layered songs of his.

As for George
I always liked Ding Dong Ding Dong
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r61noMrx3qw
and especially liked Dark Horse

and the best song about a radio DJ, and one that directly was stolen and used as the concept of the tv show WKRP in Cincinatti
(though they like to say it was stolen from a movie, the movie FM seemed to steal it from Harry
(though as Harry used to say about most music being moved along from one writer to another- Good artists borrow, great artists steal)

If You Seek Amy

Album: Circus

Lyrics:
[Intro]
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la

[Verse 1]
Oh baby, baby, have you seen Amy tonight?
Is she in the bathroom, is she smokin' up outside? (Oh!)
Oh baby, baby, does she take a piece of lime
For the drink that I'mma buy her, do you know just what she likes? (Oh!)

Oh (Oh)
Tell me have you've seen her, cause I'm so (Oh)
I can't get her off of my brain
I just wanna go, to the party she gon' go
But can't somebody take me home?
Haha, hehe, haha, ho

[Chorus]
Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy

Love me, hate me
Can't you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy

(Love me, hate me) La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la

[Verse 2]
Amy told me, that she's gonna meet me up
I don't know where or when, and now there closin' up the club (Oh!)
I've seen her once or twice, before she knows my face
But it's hard to see with all the people standin' in the way (Oh!)

[Refrain]
Oh (Oh)
Tell me have you've seen her, cause I'm so (Oh)
I can't get her off of my brain
I just wanna go, to the party she gon' go
Can't somebody take me home?
Haha, hehe, haha, ho

[Chorus]
Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy

Love me, hate me
But can't you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy

(Love me, hate me) Ohhhh, say what you want about me
Ohhhh, but can't you see what I see?
(Love me, hate me) Yeahh, say what you want about me
(La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la)

[Bridge]
So tell me if you see her
(Only knew what she was wearing, and what she was like)
Cause I've been waiting here forever
(Only knew if she has gone out her mind)

Oh baby, baby, if you seek Amy tonight (Oh!)
Oh baby, baby, we'll do whatever you'll like
Oh baby, baby, baby
Oh baby, baby, baby...

La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la

[Chorus]
Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me (Say what you want about me!)
But all of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy (If you seek Amy..)

Love me, hate me
But can't you see what I see? (Can't you see what I see?)
All of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy (If you seek Amy)

Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me (Yeaaaah)
(La, la, la, la-la, la, la, la) (Yeah)

Love me, hate me
But can't you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy (If you seek Amy)

(Love me, hate me) Ohhhh, say what you want about me
Ohhhh, but can't you see what I see?
(Love me, hate me) Yeahh, say what you want about me

All of the boys and all of the girls
Are begging to if you seek Amy (If you seek Amy..)
