Did you ever reach into your wallet, or something like that, and pull something out that sent you to a better place? (this is only for good happy thoughts).

I was at supermarket picking up the papers early this morning, and pulled out the store ID, however, pulled out the wrong one...

It was one I got on our trip last summer to California

It was a store ID bonus card to VANS supermarket
which is NOT on the east coast at all

And for a moment, I was on the beach in Santa Monica, eating the cherries and blueberries we purchased at Vans
80degrees, beautiful, the pier off to our right, the rides, the kids, the laughter

no economic problems last June/July either...

Wish I was back there.

Here's to VANS!
Wish you were in NY/NJ.

Some guy just got busted down in Albany last night for doing that, graham ....

He pulled out some crack cocaine, and it sent him to jail, which was a better place, since it was pretty cold outside last night ....

And the jail was warm .....

And so ...

I've got a real two-dollar bill in my wallet, graham ....

I keep it for emergencies ....

And so ....

Livyjr
There's a country or bluegrass song about when "my last gold dollar is gone" ....

Livyjr
There's also one about "under the double eagle", as well ....

I wonder if people remember what a "double eagle" is, or was, anyway ....

And so ...

I think if the economy keeps tanking, come next winter, many people will do a small time crime just to get room and board all winter long

(not talking the Bernie Madoff kind, why he didn't kill himself I don't know, after all, a Jewish God would forgive a suicide, unlike other religions, and
besides, does Bernie really think he is getting into heaven anyhow? A place that most Jews don't believe in to start off with anyhow).

Whatever became of Del Shannon, graham ....

Did the music define those times?

Or did those tiimes define the music?

Or was it just us, perhaps ....

I used to love to hear the Springfields and Dusty Springfield sing "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" .....

Even after all these years, I can still hear her voice .....

You got that one anywhere in your collection, graham?

And so ...

I will find the link

Del Shannon is no longer living.
In a moment of depression, he killed himself a few years ago, right about the time there was talk he might have gone into the
Traveling Wilburys, the super group that had Bob Dylan George Harrison, Roy Orbison(who died), Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne.

I'm litening to it right now as I am typing out these words ....

What is that - 1957?

over at EPU they made me the moderator of the comedians/comedy thread and the last week started a whole big one that one day will have 100s of entries

it was 1962 but they had a couple of records in 1961, and a few years later she started her solo career.

They were a big influence on one of the few groups from 1985-present that I really like, The Pet Shop Boys, who brought her back into the Top 10
in the 90s.

She is gone now too, it's a shame.

Roy could see 100%.
But he was not too good looking, so the shades made him mysterious

Then he had a tragic personal life, 2 fires, family members killed, he had heart problems and right at the start of his comeback he died, shortly after the release of both the Wilbury cd, and I think one week after the release of his solo (or one week before)

There is one helleva great song no one knows called
A love so beautiful from his last album made while he was alive

This video was offically made by his record company way after he died
One very, very, very weird

YEAH.
There was the bxw one, which had guest stars like Elvis Costello & Bruce

and there was a regular concert one I think (or was that just a dvd?)

I always liked him alot.
Saw him 4 times in concert in his later years, and once in the 70s at the Lone Star Cafe in Manhattan.

Remember this song with EmmyLou Harris-
That lovin' you feeling? (from 1979)
this should have been a #1 song

This was one incredible concert

I love the way Bruce and Elvis are just content to be in the same world with Roy

Dion is still around too.Still has his voice.

Roy never lost anything from his voice.
He was incredible.
The greatest voice and he took care of it.
Too bad he is gone, he could have had another 20 years of singing.

country singer George Morgan had a song with those lyrics, could that be it?

George Morgan Born to be with you Lyrics:
By your side satisfied Through and through cause I
was born to be with you

[ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/Xuq ]
Wonderously love can see So I knew that I was born

"Running On Empty" .....

And but for the grace of God ....

Maybe geography and chronography has as much to do with roots as philosophies?

Go figure that one out, will you now ....

Perhaps the common ground is not all that visible upon first sighting ....

Which goes to show how wrong first sightings can sometimes be ....

"Born To Be With You" by the Chordettes ....

That definitely is the song, graham ....

But I don't think I ever heard the Chordettes singing it before this ....

Was it theirs?

Or are they doing it as a "cover"?

The version I am looking for is a male singer ....

But this at least puts a date and time to when the song came out ....

When is this album from, do you think?
Livyjr
Here is Emmylou doing "Coat of Many Colors" ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL4wOlYuDLE

Some thankfulness for small things in life comes from that song to me, anyway ...

I was just teasing ih.

I love Dolly, especially her early stuff.
I am a big fan of older country 40s 50s 60s 70s
Coat is a great song, very true to life

And not only that, Dolly, from the Smokie Mts., poor when a kid

Her music from 9 to 5 is coming to Broadway this spring

Livyjr
I like it over here, graham ....

It's quiet ....

A stress-free zone, in a sense ....

And I finally found that sheet music for Born To Be With You ....

It's by Don Robertson, copyright 1956 ....

But it doesn't say who sung it .....

That remains a mystery ....

And as I say, I heard a bluegrass version of it that I really liked ....

Some driving music in the background ....

And so ...
Livyjr
