He tells it like it is...

hammers Dems and Republicans... but tells the truth where healthcare is concerned.

I posted this before, and our conservative friends here conveniently ignored it... I guess it's another inconvenient truth.

Listen to someone who should know... a real, traditional conservative....

"We have two corporate parties"

I couldn't agree more. This is why I do not trust the government to run health care...
We need SOMETHING, but the current choices are going to make the problem worse IMO...

How do we get business out of government ?

I don't see any way to do it.

So far as health insurance....

So the status quo is acceptable ?

Is there any likelihood of getting any real regulatory reform ?

Or... would such reform be fought and labeled by the right as "socialized medicine" and killed by a non-thinking public ?

IMHO... this is the only way to open the door to subsequent reforms... and if we don't do this relatively minor step now, then we'll never see anything that remotely changes the situation for another decade or longer.

What people don't get is the fact that "WE" pay for healthcare in one way or another. That will not change... the only thing that will change is the manner in which we pay it. A public option simply makes it more equitable for the 50% of Americans who aren't already on one of the other "public options".

And... funny I never hear many people condemning Medicare, Medicaid, the VA system, Federal health insurance, other governmental plans, etc. We already have a public option for everyone but the working class who pays the bill on the rest of the public option plans but are denied coverage.

We're one of the only modern nations in the world who doesn't take an active position in providing healthcare.

Its is amoral... an almost immoral.... the richest nation in the world allowing greed to overcome morality.

And... the anti-tax argument doesn't cut it. While the richest 5% have amassed 95% of the wealth of this nation... who should be paying their fair share of taxes. Those who can... and not those enslaved by the system.

As far as government running healthcare...

Do they run healthcare where Medicare, Medicaid, the VA or any of the other systems are concerned ?

I believe Medicare is one of the best examples of a successful plan.

Everyone over 65 participates, the cost of administration is about 3 to 4 %. There is no profit motive. Nobody is ever denied coverage. Millions of Americans get the care they need and most have the ability to get that care from nearly any provider. Nationwide the vast majority of providers participate.

I really do not think medicare is going to last much longer...Just google medicare and collapse and you get pages and pages of links!

But here is a good question..Why didn't Obama frame this as "Medicare for all"?
No politico in his right mind would want to be perceived as anti medicare.

As long as both sides are bought and paid for we are screwed!

With regard to the viability of Medicare... it is ultimately going to come back to paying for it one way or another... and ultimately there is going to be a day of reckoning for the healthcare industry. Cost control and regulations are coming one way or another, and it would seem that it would be better to take incremental steps now rather than waiting until the whole train derails.

I would think that raising the Medicare tax a slight amount would take care of the problem... since the Medicare tax is only 1.45% for employees and 1.45% for employers. Even doubling that tax would not be an exhorbitant increase but would probably slowly but surely bring financial stability back to Medicare.

And... I agree with your assessment and suggestion where the proper framing of this should have been.

IMHO... Medicare for all is exactly what the system should be. And then, as with anyone on Medicare, they can resort to private insurance if they want to and also for supplemental coverage... but at least the basic need is met.

And... until we get rid of the paid for Congress... nothing will be solved.

Dems Republicans... makes no difference. All the same.... just a matter of degree and certain issues, but the bottom line is they are all puppets.

Yes... and the thing about it is, that if we could get rid of the corporate influence over Congress, I bet we'd find reasonable, practical solutions that would satisfy the majority of Americans on just about every issue. With business having an unreasonable amount of influence, Congress' interest lies in re-election and maintenance of power, and the public is turned into a ping pong ball where the differences are pushed and the common interests are swept under the rug.

What a game.

Wake up America.
